A fresh idea that really stacks up!

17 Aug 2007

Are you tired of paying high prices for fresh fruit, vegies and herbs that aren’t up to scratch? South-East Queensland is in the midst of the worst drought on record. Quality fresh produce is hard to find. It’s being cold stored for longer and transported from further away.

Wouldn’t it be nice to introduce home grown fresh produce into your diet – without needing a green thumb, lots of water or a big back yard?

It’s all possible thanks to our range of mini stackable gardens. They’re a fresh idea that really stacks up. They’re space saving, water efficient and require minimal maintenance.

Designed in Australia for Australian conditions, the mini stackable gardens provide a constant source of wholesome, healthy produce.

Established in 2004, Productive Gardens are edible garden specialists and we are well qualified to supply mini stackable gardens fully planted and customised to suit your appetite.

My Productive Garden

23 Jul 2007

I thought I might share with you what is happening in my own garden at the moment.

On the deck we have Lots of Lemons with plenty of ripe fruit on, strawberries just coming on in the mini gardens and the Hang Up Four’s. The herbs are overflowing from the stackable mini gardens and a pineapple is almost ripe in a pot as well. This time of year is great as plenty of sun light streams onto our deck.

Outside lots of passion fruit are developing (it’s easy to grow them in a large pot with a small trellis)and we have just picked the last of the mandarins. The new compost bin is pretty much full and the lower section is really starting to break down so we’ll be able to use that on the vegie beds soon. The beds are raised sleeper and we have quite a crop of broccoli, silver beet, lettuce, leek, shallots and zucchini coming along in the first one.

I like to get the tomatoes in early and have given the next bed to them, plenty of mulch around them but will need staking soon. I’ll start to prepare the other beds now with additional compost and organic plant food with view to plant out in about a month as it warms up a little more. All these beds are self watered with a Wet Pot system connected to rain water tank on higher ground.
