George's Garden
03 Dec 2007
This is a photo that George from Carrara sent in. He has done a great job in planting out this jumbo mini garden for his son for Chistmas. I have visited George’s garden and seen how he is almost self sufficient for most of his herbs, fruit and veg. He has set up ingenious water saving systems that enable him to water a lot of plants with very little water.
Bugs Away
29 Oct 2007
With the weather starting to warm up, there has been a large increase in insect and grub activity. If you find your basil is disappearing before your eyes, chances are it has little green loopers munching their way through it. An easy and safe way to control these is with Dipel which is a natural bacteria that only effects caterpillers. Aphids attacking new growth can be eliminated with Pyrethrum Long Life which is a stabalised natural pyrethrum so that it provides longer lasting protection. Make sure you have something at the ready to keep your herbs and veg in top condition. Both these are available from the Natural Pest Control section of our shop.
